Welcome to J.B. Dawsons..

My name is Kara I will be your server this evening..

Praise the Lord I have gotten a job!! I am currently training to be a server at a new restaurant here in Lancaster. Although serving wasn't my ideal job I see now that it is the perfect job as I embark on this new season of my life. I have decided to go back to school and work on an associates degree (for now) and see what happens after that.

Thanks for everyones thoughts and prayers..

life of the unemployed

i guess you could say im blessed because i am not alone in the unemployment department. brittany and i spend many a day making lists, making plans, thinking thoughts *some ridiculous*, drinking coffee, contemplating jobs, and just enjoying one anothers company as we embark on what seems like our never ending job search.

i dont think i can emphasize just how frustrating it is to be looking for a job, sending out resumes, filling out applications, and for what? to be contacted that yet again you were not the right person for that position. i am a firm believer in God knowing what is best for me and i know that the perfect job will come along, so for now, i wait..

if you think of it, keep my family in your thoughts and prayers. i miss them something terrible and i know its been an adjustment to leave the life they know and start something new..

gringo or gringa?

December 19, 2007 i flew out of the Philadelphia airport, with Danielle and Geoff, to Mexico City, Mexico. we were flying down to see our family for Christmas (and my birthday :)! my return flight was booked for January 6th and i ended up returning April 22nd.

Here's a glimpse of what 4 months of Mexico living looks like..
english house church. Puebla Christian School. tacos arabes. chile and limon. 10th grade geometry class. 1st and 2nd grade. reading time. riding the bus. spanish house church. greys anatomy. gross feet. pogo and poga. 50's dinner theatre. chicken beaks. root beer barrels. tacos al pasteur con pina. "hasta luesta". acapulco. "me gusta keith". "te gusta tu zapatos". tres leches cake. calla lilies. friendship banquet. spiritual emphasis camp 2008. "me and my girls". "put HIM on the dashboard of your truck..of your truck of your truck, put HIM on the dashboard of your truck!". paola, lalo, j.c, diana. math tutoring. library stuff. bethie. dinner and a movie!. chilis for lunch and dinner. and so much more...

lots of stuff happened in mexico, some good, some bad, some happy, some sad. i learned so much about living in another culture and how culture shock doesnt really happen until you return to your home country. i love hot sauce and jalapeƱos, i eat chile and limon on everything!, chips and salsa arent mexican, corona is the national beer with a limon in it, tequila is served with everything, mercardos *markets* sell everything, including whole skinned chickens with heads attached, oaxaca cheese is not so yummy, costco and walmart sell almost the same stuff as in the states, and mexicans are some of the nicest and most hospitable people you will ever meet..

ramblings of an orphan

so my family left for mexico about a month and a half ago. my dad, mom and lil bro. its been a crazy time of adjustment for everyone. my sister got married and june and moved to virginia, my family spent july in portland, they came back for 3 weeks, we traveled to VA to visit my sis and than they left. now we are all in our separate parts of the world living life as we know it. i am so excited to see how God uses this experience in every one of our lives. yes there are times i am sad, where i ache to see my family, but i know its for the best, whether to further the growth in my life or someone else completely. in all things look to HIM for He will give you rest and peace and the strength to endure every circumstance.
